Come for Rory talk, stay for Dogs Playing Poker.

The (Northern) Irishman didn’t wear any green on St. Patrick’s Day. He just won a lot of it.
Play On, Playa!
Friend, I almost never talk about the money professional golfers win. It is a choice. Rory McIlroy has the smile of someone who is pleased to win $4.5 million…not of a player pleased with his game before the majors.
Look, Rory took care of business on St. Patrick’s Day morning, beating J.J. Spaun in a playoff. The first place check at TPC Sawgrass pays for exactly 4,500 Uber rides (plus tip)…
But, you could tell he was not pleased that his play made a playoff necessary. His performance was untidy. The conditions made things quite difficult. You try playing pristine golf in 20 MPH winds on a golf course that can make you look silly. You can’t paint the Mona Lisa every time out.
Sometimes, you just have to get something on canvas…
There was no Rory Bounce this week, even in victory. If you read between the lines, it is clear McIlroy is looking to paint his masterpiece in three weeks at The Masters to complete his career Grand Slam.
But are the brushstrokes good enough right now?
Here’s What To Expect This Week
Timothy O’Neal has had an extraordinary journey in golf. He starred at Jackson State in the early 1990s, showing ability that seemed destined to put him on the PGA TOUR. But, every mention of his journey includes the two trips to Q-School where he missed out on his TOUR card by one stroke.
The good news in golf is there is always one more round to write your own story.
Tim joined Andy and me in a great conversation we will share Wednesday before he tees it up this week in Newport Beach at the Hoag Classic. Our show will give you a new rooting interest on PGA TOUR Champions.
Until next week!
